As they wrapped up their home Super League campaign in style with a comfortable 48-6 win on relegation-threatened Huddersfield st Helens scored 24 points in each half.
In-form prop Luke Thompson acquired a brace while Lachlan Coote had a night with the boot.
The victory ensured without losing a match on home soil that the League Leaders Shield winners completed the regular season.
When Saints proceeded to win the Grand Final the last time such a feat was achieved by them has been in 2002. However, Huddersfield remain at risk of falling to the Championship.
Saints were included in the joint lowest scoring match in Super League history – a win over Castleford.
But it took the side of Justin Holbrook just three minutes to surpass that Thompson after a fine pass by his fellow racing into the tryline, score prop Alex Walmsley. Coote, playing to Warrington as the Challenge Cup Final defeat for the first time last month, included the conversion.
After a quarter of an hourDominic Peyroux had a clear run to the try line Jonny Lomax. Coote again kicked off the extras.
It was Coote who helped lay the platform to Saints’ third attempt with a 40-20 kick. Lomax, Coote and james Roby joined for Regan Grace in.
With three moments of the half a break from Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook divide the Huddersfield defence wide open and his inside pass Morgan Knowles off for a try which Coot goaled to get a 24-0 interval lead which did not flatter the home side.
The visitors got off the markers within three minutes of the restart after Martin Lawrence barged to get a try from close selection and the conversion was added by Oliver Russell Together with the half-time team speak from Huddersfield trainer Simon Woolford having had the desired effect.
Coote again effective and the attempt was supposed to give only temporary respite as Saints scored their try in the 54th minute, Kyle Amor.
Thompson promised his second try before Lomax added Saints’ seventh with 10 minutes remaining. As Huddersfield completed well beaten coote again converted.
Tommy Makinson completed the scoring after taking a pass that was from Grace from the minutes.
