Totally Wicked Stadium
As they wrapped up their residence Super League campaign with a comfortable 48-6 win over Huddersfield st Helens scored 24 points in each half.
In-form prop Luke Thompson obtained a brace while Lachlan Coote had a great night with the boot, kicking eight goals from as many attempts.
The victory ensured that the League Leaders Shield winners finished the season without losing a match an ominous album which will give them confidence before their play-offs, on home soil.
When Saints proceeded to win the Grand Final the last time has been in 2002. However, Huddersfield remain in danger of falling to the Championship.
Saints were involved from the combined lowest scoring match in Super League history – a 4-0 triumph over Castleford.
But it took the side of Justin Holbrook three minutes to transcend that Thompson after a great pass by his fellow racing into the tryline, score prop Alex Walmsley. Coote, a 17, playing for the first time to Warrington, added the conversion.
After some Saints strategy play Dominic Peyroux had a clear run to the try line after a quarter of an hour with Jonny Lomax providing the killer pass. Coote again kicked off the extras.
It was Coote who helped lay the platform to Saints’ third attempt. Coote james Roby and Lomax combined for Regan Grace in.
With three minutes of the half a break out of Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook split the Huddersfield defence wide open and his inside pass Morgan Knowles away for a try which Coot goaled for a period lead which did not flatter the home side.
With the half-time team speak from Huddersfield trainer Simon Woolford clearly having had the desired effect, the people got off the mark over three moments of the restart when Martin Lawrence barged in from close range for a try and the conversion was added by Oliver Russell.
The attempt was to provide only temporary respite as Saints scored their try in the 54th minute, Kyle Amor and Coote again successful with the boot.
Thompson maintained his second attempt before Lomax added Saints’ seventh with 10 minutes remaining. Coote converted as Huddersfield finished well beaten.
The scoring was finished by tommy Makinson after taking a pass that was from Grace in the moments.
