A brand new #20m investment in womens cricket will help the gap closes says its national manager Clare Connor.
England struggled in the summertime multi-format Womens Ashes series, which Australia won to keep the trophy.
The money will fund 40 new specialist contracts and help expand all areas of the womens game.
The gap struck us hard that summer at the Ashes, Connor told BBC Sport.
The England and Wales Cricket Board aims to spend #50m into the game over five years tochange all components of girls and girls cricket.

The salaries we will be spending our female gamers are very aggressive and I believe theyre in accordance with the economics of this sport more broadly.
Im confident well be continuing to tell a positive story regarding pay.
England captain Heather Knight said the new investment would be utilizedto increase the game as well.
You look at where we had been kind of four years ago and we were nowhere near the amount we are now, Knight added.
Womens cricket has only been professional for a long time – the mens match has been professional for 60 years.
Its all about being patient and trying to make progress all the time, but also being knowing how far weve come in such a short space of time.
