We’re going to observe a star-studded field at the 2019 Western & Southern Open as most of the biggest titles will be on hand. On the men’s side, we’ll see No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic and No. 3 Roger Federer. Because Wimbledon, it is our very first look at them for Djokovic and Federer. Is a good bet ?

Djokovic is the defending champion at this occasion as he beat Roger Federer in the 2018 final 6-4, 6-4. Surprisingly, it was his very first title at this event, and it is astonishing since he has been at the final six times in total.
The issue is that Djokovic has thrived here of late. Yeshe got the win from 2018 but was absent at each of the 2 years before, he then lost in the last, dropped in the third round and lost in the quarters at each one of the three previous decades. In general, his record is at this championship. The 11 reductions tie him .
At precisely the same time, nobody really is playing with him to the hard courts at this time. He’s 33-3 on hard courts because the beginning of 2018 (not adding indoor). He’s the player to conquer here.
Leaving aside the Big Three to get a minute, there are serious threats here. Dominic Thiem is the No. 4 seed however he is a clay-court specialist. Stefanos Tsitsipas is a pesky 20-year-old with a shot but a reduction to Nick Kyrgios in the semis in the Citi Open and to Hubert Hurkacz within his first match in the Rogers Cup indicates he’s not a true threat.
Then there is Kei Nishikori, that also lost in his first game in the Rogers Cup, Alex Zverev, who is far better about clay, and Karen Kachanov, who is just 18-17 about the year.
Out of the longer shots, a player like Kevin Anderson is capable of sudden because he plays well on hard courts but he has been hurt all year. Marin Cilic is a choice but he’s only 13-11 about the year. Who is there to bet in this tournament apart from the Big Three?
This is an integral tune-up for the U.S. Open later this season, so I am expecting Djokovic’s’A’ game here. He has been off since Wimbledon and ought to be new.
Federer is an option as he has won this event seven times but he is better on grass than judges. He’s 29-5 in his past 34 about the hard courts; he’s 11-1 in his last 12 on bud.
With Nadal pulling from this competition after only winning the Rogers Cup on the weekend, making this tournament Djokovic’s to lose in my novels.
Let’s have fun and keep it civil.
